Even in the midst of this most irksome recession I see people doing things they love.
Perhaps they do it in spite of the trends, or even because of them.
I see good art and hear good music being made.
Real artists continue to search for and find their voice and amuse themselves accordingly.
Patronage becomes more important, and somewhat less important now that there is a digital format for distribution of things and a dissemination medium for ideas.

There is a lot of potential out there for the concept of the micro-purchase.
Currently things like Second Life generally pay for themselves for a lot of doers and makers.
But not much more unless the business is broadened and well known.

I see folks expanding into digital media to distribute their music and see that it is ephemeral but that the stake knocked into the ground by Apple at a penny under a dollar a song is holding.
Is that just a line in the sand or is it really what the market will bear?

As an artist of sorts it is interesting to see where the line is where people will or will not buy something. I have had freak purchasers where they had to have something I did...mainly because it was a decorative item. Nothing as ephemeral as "art".
Perhaps we should just throw out "art" as a term.
Maybe I should just be a decorator, when it comes to making things to sell.
What do you folks think?
I mean, those that do.

We had a budget wedding with tons of fun people and family...well the several scores of people we could afford to have who were being friendly with us...and who we could jam into the place on the way to the date as family slowly trickled and rsvped late...etc. etc. My blushing bride looked like a Spanish Lady and danced with me like a little puffy cloud and we were surrounded by love and happiness. Thank you to all who came and all the fond wishes from those unable to attend.
And love and joy to all. :)

...and Big Lots....

Tonight was spent making the place festive and fidning finishing touches at the Target.
We went to Big Lots during the weekend for the icicles and star chasers that light our green house window.

Otherwise the Mrs. and I had homemade soup and some Insalata Caprese' and received some lovely missives and phone messages from well wishers hoping to catch up and share some sage advice.

It made me think of what a busy month it has been and thanksgivings past and things to be thankful for. Increasing health and good fortune. Friends and Family.

Its a new day, and going into the next and the next after that we will see what comes.

There are angry people out there...unhappy that the world does not give them what they want. But what they want the world was not designed to give.

Poor unfortunate souls.....

Maybe after then next four years we will all be a little better off...

There was a big train wreck a little while ago....

now the government is stepping in to cater to us but to make sure our rail is safe for passengers
it could cost upwards of 2 billion dollars.

Hundreds of billions to Iraq so far....and hundreds and hundreds more for the banking system.

And we are looking at an election where I wish
"Give 'em Hell Harry" would come back from the Dead.

So I will choose A cross between Barney Fife and Malcolm X running with a cross between Jon Lovitz and Elmer Fudd, over a cross between Hindenburg and Captain Queeg, running with a girlie version of Adolph mixed with the church lady.

Makes you sigh....and get back to work....

Today at work I worked on a mom flipping a pancake onto a plate and a Dad playing with a baby.
